"AIDeS in Africa"
June 13 - July 3, 2008
Durban, South Africa
Cost: $3500 (this includes airfare which is approximately $2,100, food, housing, ground transport, some supplies, entrance to sightseeing events [i.e. gamepark, table mountain])
The objective of this outreach is to talk about AIDS and act on what we say, by going to visit the sick - bring hope to the hopeless and awareness to the community about AIDS.
We will be working with Good News Ministries in Ntusuma, a township of 500,000 Zulu, formerly a squatter's camp of which 47% are infected with HIV.
Week One: Orientation in Cape Town, SA. Fly into Capetown, see Capetown, visit YWAM work there, recover from jetlag and have orientation/team building. After 3-4 days relocate to Durban.
Week Two and Three- We will be serving "Ukukhanya Life Care Centre," a
joint ministry of New Jerusalem Missions from Kansas, and Good News
Ministries of Ntuzuma, SA. They are in the process obtaining land to
start a hospice and feeding scheme for orphans.
Opportunities will include:
* Home visits to those with AIDS
* Scouting the need and order of establishing things
* Prayer walking/sessions seeking God
* Bids and cost analysis for the project
* Some physical work to set up the property and secure it
* Possibly interviewing orphans for the program
This is really a pioneering phase of the work - we are familiar with
the need, the people, and the purpose, and as the director, Penny,
relocates to Durban in April we will have a better understanding of
what is needed.
